1. Operation Sindoor — First Anniversary

India commemorated the 1st anniversary of Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2026, marking the exact time (1:05 AM) when strikes were launched.

Lt. General NS Raja Subramani appointed as India's new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
He will succeed General Anil Chauhan after the latter completes his tenure on 30 May 2026.
Currently serving as Military Adviser in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) since September 2025.
Commissioned into the 8th Battalion of the Garhwal Rifles on 14 December 1985.
CDS post was officially created on 24 December 2019 by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).

3. Cabinet Approvals — May 2026

Sugarcane FRP Increased

CCEA approved FRP of ₹365/quintal for sugarcane farmers for 2026-27 season.

Applicable from October 1, 2026 at a basic recovery rate of 10.25%.

Mission for Cotton Productivity

Cabinet approved Mission for Cotton Productivity (2026-27 to 2030-31) with a budget of ₹5,659.22 crore.

4. IndiaAI–ICMR MoU
